Accent wall planner
Any wall shape, five styles, cut list.
Open the Accent Wall Editor toolFree. Runs in your browser, no account, and keeps working offline.
What it does
Start with a plain rectangle or pick a rake wall under a stair or a gable end, then type in the real measurements. Choose a style — vertical, staggered, grid, tartan, diamond or random — and the batten count, and the planner draws the wall to scale.
Tap any batten to see where it goes, measured from the wall's corner, and the length to cut. Add windows, outlets and other cutouts and the battens around them are clipped and measured too.
The takeoff totals linear feet for the battens and the frame, the boards to buy at your stock length with waste, and backer sheets if you use them.
Worked example
A plain 10′ × 8′ wall, a 3 1/2″ frame around it and six vertical battens inside, 16′ boards and 15% waste.
- Wall area
- 80 sq ft
- Batten, linear feet
- 48.0 ft
- Frame, linear feet
- 36.0 ft
- Boards to buy (16′, with waste)
- 7
Change the shape (rake under a stair, gable) or the style (grid, diamond, tartan) and the cut list follows.
Questions
How many boards do I need for an accent wall?
Add up the linear feet of battens and frame, add a waste allowance, and divide by the board length. The planner does this from the layout you draw.
Does it handle a wall under a staircase?
Yes. Pick the rake shape and set both heights; battens are clipped to the slope and each one gets its own length.
Can I plan a diamond or grid pattern?
Yes. Diamond, grid, tartan, staggered and random are built in, with spacing and angles you can change.
